Re: Fort Sumter Reenactment
In Response To: Re: Fort Sumter Reenactment ()

I know of a couple hundred or so "hard core" re-enactors who are capable of peforming proper WBTS military ceremonies, but they do not often because:

1) Some are snobs and will not try to work with SCV/SUV members,

2) Some have no interest in memorials, grave marker dedications and so forth,

3) With 200 well trained and well equipped re-enactors spread across the nation, it is a logistical problem to gather them in one place for a two hour ceremony. $4 a gallon gas prices is going to make things even harder.

There was an SCV camp about 90 miles from me who used to have it down. They would drill and learn how to "load in nine times", display proper decorum/respect, and even the ladies dressed in period correct black attire. They were very solemn, dedicated and I joined them on many occassions.
With the cyclical nature of volunteer organizations they have dropped a couple of notches and part of that is my fault for deserting them.
