Re: This really upsets and saddens me...

Jamie,

Thanks for the uplifting and challenging response. Guess I gotta' pray for this guy.

For you and others, I thought you might be interested in my most recent exchange with this person:

Dear "Webmaster" Martin,
After a painfully exhaustive search of my list I fail to see your name on it. Perhaps someone forwarded it to you from another location?
I am truly nonplused by your sentence "These vile references in your email to a perverse sexual act (tea bagging") are not appreciated." To what do you refer? I thought that was simply a vernacular reference to the Tea Bag Party. I obviously hit a nerve and will have to find out what it is you mean.
As for the rest of your note, I am actually happy you amplify your feelings about professional historians and educators. Honesty is a good characteristic in one's personality. It could be that you might find it more enjoyable to enter the fields of education and maybe history, you certainly seem to manifest a talent for getting to the truth.
But, "tea baggers?" I really do not know what that means, as I said above.
To remove your name from the list you may wish to find out who forwarded the information to you. You;re the WebMaster and so would already know about such things. I'm merely a historian.
Cheers!

Dear ?????,

Please no more emails and no more "cute" responses feigning ignorance.

Here is a link to the definition of this term. I presume you don't know how to "Google" the term "tea bagger" or "tea bagging"?

If you write to me again, I will forward all of our communications to the ????? State Historical Commission and other interested parties, including my attorney.

That was sure a "slimey" and cowardly response. Please go slither back in your hole.

With best regards,

Jim Martin

And this person is granted authority and responsibility for disseminating historical/cultural information to our young people. This person is going to make decisions, in a Southern state, of how the sesquicentennial will be observed, how the war will be remembered and what were its causes. Can you see any "truth" or even an attempt at it coming out of this person?

Still saddened and disheartened,

Jim
