In the case of the Governor of Arkansas threatening to seceed from the Confederacy, General Albert S. Johnson had ordered Gen Van Dorn to move his entire army then in Arkansas to Mississippi in order to help him. Van Dorn took everything that wasn't nailed down, giving the appearence that the state was being "officially" abandoned by the Confederacy to the Union Army then in Arkansas and that they did not intend to return to Arkansas.

Governor Rector raised holy H--- with Jefferson Davis. And I believe rightly so.
