Help please. On another message board, I have read allegations that Lee's army captured free black people in Pennsylvannia and sold them into bondage. That sounds familiar, but is very hard to believe. I recall that Gen. Lee and President Davis were determined to pay for captured property and that Davis remarked after the War about keeping this policy.

Specifically, someone states that Stewart's cavalry was busy molesting the free black people and hauling them away. Does anyone have evidence that supports or refutes this charge?
