Even the biographies were PC. A point was made to remark about the fact the Confederate general and surgeon were slaveholders, even remarking about Gen. Barksdale being a "Secessionist". So what? The Confederate color bearer was merely a 23 year old man who lost his arm, but the yankee sergeant who was wounded on the first day was a patriot with three young children who enlisted because he believed in preserving his nation. So, the 23 year old rebel was just cannon fodder with no family, no inspiration?
July 1st was nothing but a complete drubbing of the Union Army, but the show last night highlighted the victorious skirmish of the Wisconsin Iron Brigade. From the producers' viewpoint, it is a wonder the Confederates were able to hang around for two more days.
I want my two hours back.
