I'm with you there Joe. Last night's show was a little more digestible. But to state that Grant never experienced defeat had to be the funniest thing since "Laugh-In". Grant's arse was handed to him on a platter in every battle in the east until he got his (Meade's) army outside of Petersburg. Yes, they kept going after Spotsylvania, The Wilderness, and Cold Harbor, and all the small skirmishes in between. (And even then he doctored casualty reports to subdue the outrage in the north over the unending war.) Much as Lee's army did after Sharpsburg and Gettysburg. There were few decisive battles on the field other than Nashville, Fort Donelson, and Vicksburg. But who was Grant fighting there? It wasn't the ANV.
