I see where James Gonzales (brick maker) Mr. Chase and several other men formed a company called The Mobile and Pensacola Railroad and Manufacturing Company in 1860, combining lumber, brick and railroad into one large company then buying up the Perdido Railroad stock in 1861, one of the first times a publicaly owned company bought out another with stocks. Fort Morgan was built from bricks made at the Fish River Kiln in Baldwin County. The fact that Pensacola forts were built using some Alabama bricks may have been one of those low bid contracts.
