Chief, and Pam, if I remember correctly, the American Pickers guys said the term "Dog River Sword" derived from a few made there, and was used for all of a similar pattern, no matter where they were made. Apparently most had no maker's mark. The leather washer handle reminds me of Marine and Navy K-Bars. I have two of the Navy version from my Combat Camera days. They are marked "USN" and have a gray composite hard sheath, while those issued to Marines had a leather sheath. Stan
