Ok, now it's making more sense. They had a building. They could have used it as a distribution center. They had people there for a long time. Maybe it was an O&R type thing if they had a skilled smith or artisan. Since they are listed as "Dog River Swords" in the sites we've seen for collectors, is there maybe a small hallmark that indentifies it as such? This puzzle isn't solving itself. It's causing more work on the brain.
If GGGrandpaw brought home his sword and it hung on a wall for 150 years, how would the descendant know it was Dog River rather than an issue from the Augusta Arsenal? Just sayin, it's fishy. I know, that's another river down the way.

Do you by chance know the location of Wragg Swamp? I know it's somewhere in Mobile County.
