Another Place to Look

The Escatawba River in Jackson, County, Mississippi was also known as the "Dog River" during the Civil War. The O.R. mentions both names. The towns of Moss Point and Pascagoula were known for the many steam powered saw mills. The mouth of the Escatawba is very near Moss Point and not far from Pascagoula. With all that metal machinery, circular saws and tools, somebody had to repair and manufacture spare parts to keep the mills going. Also, there were small shipyards nearby, they also required metal parts. This could be a good place to look.
