Love this Jamie. I'm a hound man myself. Got a picture perfect 2 year old male Weimaraner. And his name is "Gunner". Go figure. He had his first reenacting experience a few months ago in Virginia. He didn't mind the muskets but he didn't care for daddy's cannon. He DID find a pretty little female Weimy that was running with some Tennessee Cavalry. Her name was "Millie" and he acted like a total nut job around her. Some of the info I have on the Third Richmond Howitzers says that they had a black "hound" that traveled with them. It was supposedly a joke for friendly units to "hijack" the hound. But apparently he was stolen for good by some Yanks. Then "The Third" was reported to have a CROW that followed them around. We have a replica stuffed crow that we perch on the ammo chest sometimes. Great conversation piece. Don't forget the awesome monument at Gettysburg with the hound kneeling and the Celtic Cross behind him. I believe it was a Pennsylvania unit. DOGS RULE.
