Great post Alice. I think the field at Gettysburg has some of the finest stone and bronze work ever exhibited. For both sides. I say "some" because I live close to Hollywood Cemetery. Some of the stone carving there, especially the Celtic, Masonic, and Woodmen pieces are just amazing. My wife and I visit there often just to view "the art". Thanks so much for your post on the 11th PA's Sallie. My wife is as much a dog lover as I. She almost came to tears when I read her Jamie's post about Barksdale's dog. Okay....so did I. She loved your site and the story of "Sal". I can just imagine that dog out in front of the lines barking and running about. Surely she was incarnate of a past warrior. Thanks again.
