Not dogs, but I remember from "Eighty Acres of Hell" about Camp Douglas, the POWs were eating rats found around the barracks. The Camp CO had the barracks raised off the ground so there no more rats. In addition, the wind under the barracks made the winters even worse. I don't know if Uncle Frank ate any rats, but he was a prisoner at Camp Douglas from July '64 til June '65. His pension application stated he got his rheumatism from that year of exposure. He had been wounded at Spotsylvania, and was at home recovering when captured at Roswell, Georgia. I doubt his wound helped any in his sufferings at the Andersonville of the North. Stan
