My understanding is "blood-hounds" were very different from "Negro Dogs". Bloodhounds were used to track only, "Negro Dogs" were meant to track and catch humans. "Negro Dogs" as a breed, I believe originated in Cuba, a very large slave economy nation. The rare images of them show them to look like a Great Dane/Wolf Hound mix.
