Amen Jamie. It's hard to imagine the shear grit and fortitude that those men exhibited. Jackson had a practice of marching his men for 50 minutes and then letting them rest for ten. I'd say his record for mileage on foot proves the theory. Most officers kept their men on the march from meal to meal. Or sun up to sun down.
