I find it very interesting that John Surratt, the escaped member of Booths band, made it to Europe where he joined the Papal Zouaves then fighting the Garibaldians in Italy. When he was found out to who he was, he was arrested. Surratt escaped, and wearing his Zouave uniform, deserted over to the Garibaldians, who, according to Surratt, were his only and best friends, giving him money and safe passage. I thought Garibaldi was a great ally of Abraham Lincoln?
