The 1883 list of pensioners has lots of variations, g. s. w. rt. hand & arm, g. s. w. l. hand & r. side, s. wd r. hand, loss little fing., wd r heel, shell wd. l. buttock, g. s. w. l. knee-joint, etc. but also injury to abdomen, wound to abdomen, loss all fings. l. hand. Looking at a small sample of about 20 counties, the injuries to the left side were only slightly higher than those on the right.
