I do not know if it was this story or another similar that I read a while back. In some of the old publications there are tidbits like this that are so special when we spot them. If it had to have the "seal" of the official clerk/record keeper/notary for Spain, it did have his autograph and his assistance. My 3x GGrandfather Joseph E. Caro.
There were a number of odd things that went on. Hubby's ancestor, George Stiggens was on some sort of trading mission in Mississippi (for the Panton Leslie Trading Post,) when that ancestors brother in law William Weatherford (Red Eagle) attacked Ft Mimms. Now, Georges sister and her husband were inside that fort and she was also Billy Weatherford's 3rd wifes sister. Her husband was killled but some of the Creek's recognized her and got her out and to a safe place. We have no way of knowing if George were in Alabama then what side he'd have been on. He was truly 'caught in the middle'.
