The Confederate Navy lived on...

This picture is of the Peruvian Navy Covette "America. It was originally built by France as the iron ship CSS Texas or Georgia, a Confederate cruiser. There seems to be a big confusion by historians of which ship it was to be, the U.S. Naval Historical Center says "CSS Georgia". Here it is stranded on shore by a tidal wave in a Chilean harbor in 1868. The copper bottom is very plain to see as well as the heavy weapons positions. The ship in the background is the USS Wateree, also stranded on shore by the same tidal wave.
