Hey James, looks like your kin also had some family issues to resolve after the war. Your beloved Tennessee endured a lot of that but folks sometimes forget how divided Louisiana was. Here is an example of how close this event is to us even today.

Back in the spring my wife had surgery at Alexandria Surgical Center for carpal tunnel syndrome on each wrist... one at a time, several weeks apart. Anyway, the surgeon was named Dr. Texada. His great-grandfather is mentioned in Dr. Art Bergeron's revised edition of Dennis Haynes's book "A Thrilling Narrative: The Memoirs of a Southern Unionist." Haynes was a member of and leader of a company in the 1st Battalion Louisiana Scouts. A Union cavalry battalion raised in Central Louisiana. Sometime after the war he met up with Dr. Lewis Texada in Alexandria and Dr. Texada administered a severe beating to him with a cane. It gave us something to talk about besides insurance co-payments and the vintage orange Astros cap I was wearing and ended up letting him try on LOL!
