I agree. It is avoidable, but someone or something has to give up their stand on the subject in dispute. That's where the fire starts. Placing a 'due date' for giving up is not always a good idea. Neither is sending in threats in the form of armed men or ships with a lot of guns aboard. Then the human element of stubborn comes in to play. It's not always a good ending either.
