It may not be something tangible but more like an aching hip when the weather changes. You know it’s not going to be good but you need to decide whether to medicate or suffer. The Confederacy medicated and suffered anyway. From the time of Andrew Jackson to even now, it would seem, it’s been about nation building. Not maintaining the nation one has and leaving it in better shape for the young’uns.

It is easy to see now what may have been elusive years ago. States Rights are probably the closest to Individual Rights we have. Looking at the challenge to Alabama’s immigration law shows just where it’s gone off the track. The people of Alabama wanted a law. The United States Government said they couldn’t do that. Can you believe there’s session talk in Alabama again today? There is. Not gonna fly and they know it but it is frustration with the big wheel running over the little person. Just as the frustration with the lack of response to the oil spill was ‘glossed’ over by the press, it’s there but not on public display.

Anytime the power shifts it's going to cause whiplash. The South was trying to keep from wearing that tacky neckbrace. They got the body cast for their trouble.
