I'd have to disagree there David. An ACCURATE carriage will cost you $7000. Then if you want a "safe" tube you are looking at another 6-7K. Then there are all the little things like tools, bags, pouches, lanyards, and implements. I bought a six pounder from a fellow in Alabama about 8 years ago. Very accurate tube with correct Tredegar stampings on a 100% spec carriage. He also had an ammo chest. Solid oak, dovetailed corners, copper top, and spec hardware and fasteners. I got a good deal. Then I bought a new limber and custom fitted a new trailer to haul the combination in style. No ratchet straps or ropes. All chain and bolted down mounts. The entire rig looks like the gun is just sitting there unattached. I've easily got $30K rolling down the road. Then with the price of blackpowder, friction primers, materials to make rounds, and the time to do it.....it costs about $12+ every time that thing goes boom. It's not a cheap hobby. If you can find a nice gun for $6K....gimme a holler. No mountain howitzers or rifles please. 57 inch wheels only.
