On this date 150 years ago, skirmishes broke out at Hallsville, Missouri, and a clash between rebel and Union soldiers, under the command of General Benjamin Prentiss at Mount Sion, Missouri, resulted in the dispersion of the 900 Confederates who had been stationed there.
