Re: February 1st, Another Day of Infamy

I'm currently reading “Mississippi in the Civil War The Home Front” By Timothy B. Smith, and he mentions the living conditions in which a great many contribands had suffered under the "care" of the Union armies in Mississippi. At one point it got so bad that Union officers were begging the plantation owners to come take their slaves back before they starved to death.
