......I'm not so sure he fell short at Knoxville. If he had taken the town, I'm not sure he could have held it. He was out of supplies and no hope of fresh troops. Also Sherman was moving up from Chattanooga with over 12,000 men. I don't he had no other choice than to abandon Knoxville. No one wishes he had taken the city and held it more than me. Bob
