Re: When did the Harriet Lane fire the first shot?

SO by that time the Bombardment of Fort Sumter was well under way having started before dawn on the 12th and the Harriet Lane did not fire the first shot.

IF the Baltic arrived 9 hours before the Nashville, (@ 3 a.m.) did it enter Charleston harbor?

IF the Nashville was fired on at Noon on the 12th, and the bombardment had been going on the 6 hours since dawn, why did the Harriet Lane find it necessary to try to stop the Nashville by firing across her bow? What was the Nashville doing that caused such a reaction? Was she trying to run the blockade and enter Charleston harbor during the Bombardment?
