It is a shame that most Americans are not as well educated about our history as this ex-patriot Israeli citizen. Southerners were always more tolerant of other religions, especially Jews. Louisiana, in particular, tolerated Jews and Catholics more than any other state in the Union. And Charleston was indeed the most highly populated Jewish contingency in the U.S. Today, the legacy of Reconstruction and Northern revisionist history teaches school children that our ancestors were more bigoted and intolerant than those Mid-Western yankees who invented and refined Black Codes prior the War of Northern Aggression.
