I know so little compared to the rest of the board when it comes to stats and a lot of other things. What I do believe, based on what I have read, is you're right about the amount of cannon fodder. One side had an endless supply. The other, not so much. What the 'other' did have was something I can't put into words. For all the arguments on the right or wrong of the war, the Confederate Soldier was well aware of their smaller numbers but they still went forward.
