Re: Religion in Virginia- and early America

For a Deist who never subscribed to basic Christian beliefs (or those of any other religion), Jefferson's interest in religious liberties is interesting. Jefferson regarded anything referencing the supernatural as superstition and nothing more. Benjamin Franklin and many of the other Founding Fathers held similar beliefs.

As recorded on his tombstone, three accomplishments for which Jefferson wished to be remembered were -
