I agree but disagree. I think the person/persons involved in this stole it for political reasons, especially since someone posted earlier that a radio personality was ranting about the bust's existence, which probably got some folks thinking : well we can fix this, we will just steal it:
But once in their hands they might have got to thinking, hey.... here is a lot of money, and what are we gonna do with this anyway. My thinking is they are taking it to the scrap yard, doing what Johnny Cash sang about years ago
"ONE PIECE AT A TIME". But I hope I am wrong, and maybe this large reward will prompt someone to come forward.
