Just as a little update, the movie has done poorly on the U.S. market at about $65 million, while it is an international hit at about $175 million. The production budget of the movie was $250 million, so it still needs to make more to break even. It hasn't opened in Japan, yet, so they are expecting additional international revenue. The movie has been extremely popular in Russia and China?

I'm wondering why there is such a difference between the U.S. and foreign box office for this film. Heaven forbid, is our society so "PC" that they can't accommodate a movie hero who has a background of being a Confederate soldier? I hope this is a matter of poor promotion or some other reason and not just a "knee-jerk" programmed reaction to anything Southern and/or Confederate.
