President Jackson actions regarding the Indian Removal were declared to be unconstitutional by the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Jackson simply ignored the Supreme Court orders and did it anyway saying that the Supreme Court in effect couldn't stop him. And he was Right, they couldn't. And they can't even today. Where does that leave us in todays reality?
The same thing with the South Carolina Nullification Crisis of 1832. It showed that no one could stop a President from abusing the power of his office if he has the backing of the military. The same man that conducted the Indian Removal, Gen Winfield Scott, also ordered the occupation of Charleston and Fort Moultrie which threatened South Carolina in the Nullification Crisis, for President Jackson and was the right hand man for Presdient Lincoln during the for Sumter Crisis.
