Re: Origin of the Rebel Yell-The Tennesse Yell

In thinking on it, I remember something about a noise or yell at the Cowpens too. If those Revolutionary soldiers were from the area around Kings Mountain and The Cowpens, they would know about the Indian sounds. I can't recall just what book I read that in but will try to figure it out for a reference. It's been a good 20 years or more since I read it.

The 'Yell' used in the battles here may have originated from the Indians but there were also some similar noises in earlier battles in Scotland. Possibly at Bannocburn, I'm trying to remember but it make sense that those of that origin would know of them and even if they'd never participated in it before, they'd heard the tales and knew it was a distraction that caused the enemy to be confused.
