That's cool. We have had so many things start here it's no wonder that 'first shot' may have been one of them. We had that huge survival center til it moved to Eglin and we had the Aerospace Medical Center. That went to Texas I think. Research still goes on in some building somewhere out there but no one 'knows' what or which one. I even held the little plexiglass compartment Baker rode in before the flight. It was at the neighbors house. He was a Dr out there and was fixing something on it. You never know what comes from this little back water and some would think backward town. We like being misunderstood most of the time.

Even back in the 1960's, the Army was still aiming shells at Ft McRee. Of course, it was just 'simulation' but we tried to sleep with the noise for 2 weeks each summer.
