There were roughly 50,000 slaves (personal servants) attached to the Confederate armies. This was over the duration of the war - not all at once. They were not enlisted but the army did supply them with rations.

About 10,000 free blacks and slaves were enlisted in some form of military duty (State or Confederate). 500 to 1000 of these were slaves enlisted as cooks, musicians, and teamsters.
