Thank you so much. I got a kick out of the Piute and Mojave Indian photos. Few people do not realize that steamboats used to use the Colorado River from the Gulf of Cortez to the Grand Canyon Rapids. How much areas like Virginia City, Nevada were built up by 1861, is amazing to me. The story goes that Virginia City started as a mining town for the gold mines. One day some visiting Mexican miners, drinking in a saloon, were amazed at the cities growth and prosperity saying, "only in American could you find streets paved in silver!" The local miners had unknowningly used valuable ores from the mines trailings to pave-- mine trailings were laced with silver ore. That's when Virginia City really started to grow.
