This is really an amazing piece of film. Since it was in October of 1917, I'd think national patriotism was more pronounced since WWI was still going on. For the citizens of Vicksburg who did not celebrate the 4th, this was one way to show pride without going over the line they had drawn in the sand. Including the CW Veterans was great It was quite ok to do so then. The Negro Veterans were in their own truck. The Military, Boy Scouts, Civil War Vet's and even a dog!! Doesn't get much better than that.
