Is this the Ivanhoe?

Hurricane Isaac beaches a long lost wreck. Could this be the British blockade runner Ivanhoe? This hulk, est. at nearly 140 long and 20 wide, looks to be down to the waterline, and located nearly 4.5 miles east from Ivanhoe's orignial grounding spot (7/8's of a mile east of Fort Morgan)---sure could be. The Ivanhoe, originally listed at 201 feet long by 20 feet wide (Henry Gorst, commander, owner- Albion Trading Company) was a sidewheel, double funnel, steamship, running between Havana and Mobile. Beached and burned when it ran into Farragut's fleet off of Mobile on July 1, of 1864. The Union fleet fired between 700 and 800 shots at her, striking her but a half dozen times. She was burned after the Cargo and some of its machinery were saved by the Confederates; and later the Union navy attempted to salvage, but found nothing of value.

Thanks Pam for the photo!
