I don't believe there is a connection between the two men. Elisha Otis who manufacture elevators was i think from Vermont and lived in New York. Doctor Otis was from an old Boston family. Several of the books he has written about amputation, medical and surgical procedures can be read on-line. A most interesting topic but not my cup of tea.
