Re: Largest muzzle loader ever built

David
... Ive served on a number of civil war artillery crews in the past.. A couple times got too close to the muzzle plane and it will indeed rattle your teeth... Once in the Infantry line we were staged behind the artillery.. once they finished we were ordered to advance... We passed right through the guns so not like they didnt know we were there... reformed just beyond the guns that were suspose to now all be empty... apparently one gun wasnt paying attention and kicked out one more round.. unfortunately part of our line was directly in front of the gun about 40-50 yards out by then... the concussion knocked down about eight of us that were on that end of the line... Was like someone hit you in the back with a 2x4... not fun... Thereafter we always re-checked the situation before moving, and never trusted any artillery officer again....lol..
