That's just how the fact/notfact is shown in any real life event or life. Depends on who is telling it and how much on wishes to believe. I had understood a few years back that Killer Angels was required reading at West Point. I don't know if it is now. When one is asked about a point and if it's true, most of the time the expedient thing to do is just shrug or give a short answer. If they don't know some may believe it's because they didn't listen, were never told, had not researched the point in question. That said, considering how many post on this site and I have no idea just how many others on this one period in this nations history is pretty telling.

It seems like too many people are curious, were never really introduced to the subject or have never taken the time to do their own research because we have so many just pop in for an answer when doing their family tree. Now the subject is getting more press and it's at a time the school systems are starting to put a lid on it and start this nations history at a later date. A whole century later.

We've seen in the Lincoln Papers and other archival materials that he was no saint on the tolerance scale but neither was JFK. How many of our 'hero's' from our youth, Lindberg comes to mind, thought Hitler was onto a good idea? Some can't "handle the truth" such as, Robin Hood was a socialist.

My Son in Law asked me if I was going to see the movie. He was expecting a loud hail no but I told him I probably will but with reservations on it being 'honest'. At the very least, I'd have ammo in case someone brings it up in conversation but I'm not thinking too many people will. That's probably the real problem. It isn't talked about in the open enough with enough tolerance to hear both sides story.
