Joe, I apologize, I think I posted this on the wrong thread. But that being said, I agree 110% with you!! Lincoln was not the hero we were taught in school. I also strongly disagree with anyone that attempts to change history, be it writers, movie makers, teachers, or the government. I have not seen nor do I plan to see the movie. If I went to see it, I would only come out more upset with the so called truth than I already am. But to my surprise, some schools are starting to teach a somewhat better version of the war and its causes, but not so much change in the way they portray Lincoln. But this is why it is so important for us as parents and grandparents to encourage our children to read the factual accounts of Lincoln, and of the war and teach them what they are being taught is not right. If we do not then all they have to go on will be what the teachers, politicians, and so called historically correct movies are telling them. I have 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. As they reach the stage in school
where they are starting history, I have talked to each one about the truth and facts as I know. Some have really gotten interested and did some of their own research. But the old saying "History is written by the victors" will always hold true. Although how "untrue" it may be. Enough said I will get off my soapbox now (for now anyway)
