Merry Christmas to you too Tom. Though the terrain and the vegetation has changed over the years, there's a few places that just confound me. Lookout Mountain is one. Hubby and I were at the little battery thingy there one year and I just had to shake my head over the audacity of those who scaled the mountain. Two years later, that battery was fenced off and a huge chunk of the mountain next to it had fallen. What ever side the soldier was on, you've got to admire their tenacity. The first time I saw Shiloh I was a little confused. Maybe it was just me building it up in my own imagination but when I saw how small it really was, I wondered how anyone came out alive. The one 'fact' I'm sure of is that my cattle running side from Columbia County, Fl went to war. The other lines from Covington County, Alabama and Elbert and Hart County Georgia were farmers but they went to war. Why? I wish I knew.
