One indisputable fact is that if the Confederacy had the same resources as the Union, then they would have won Independence in less than four years. The really intriguing question is just what percentage would they have needed to prevail.... 60%, 40%? With no changes in leadership, I believe they could have prevailed with FAR LESS than 40% of the wealth, industry, and man power of the North. They almost did it anyway.
