I simply asked the question, what are they meaning by the title of "the WHIPPING Man"?

What are they implying if anything (other than the obvious) by such a seeming purposely inflammatory title? Who is the "Whipping Man", and why is he called that? Is he supposed to be another Uncle Tom's Cabin, Simon Legree?
