Re: Renaming US Army Bases
In Response To: Renaming US Army Bases ()

That inane essay is a sad commentary on these times. Some of those forts were built and named barely 50 years after the War and others were built less than 75 years later. There has been no big controversey in all these many years....until now. The author intentionally equates the exploits of American generals who defended American soil with invading British and Nazi generals. A more accurate comparison with Cornwalis and Rommel would be Sherman, Grant, and Banks.
The city council of Jacksonville, Texas recently banned the planting of Confederate flags on Confederate VA markers in a city cemetery because it might upset some ignorant folks. The city of Memphis, TN has renamed city parks that honored Confederate heroes. Benign organziations like the Confederate Air Force have been forced to change their names or go out of business (or both).
Caving into PC propoganda is the reward for failing to thoroughly teach 18th and 19th Century American history (devoid of Northern bias) in Southern schools for the past 50 years.
