Portraits in the Texas Capital

I noticed something the other day in the Texas State Capital in Austin that I was quite proud of. In the House of Representatives chamber directly behind the speakers rostrum is the portrait of Stephen F Austin flanked by the large portraits of Jefferson Davis and John H Reagan. The page tells me they were placed in that prominent position very shortly after Reconstruction. In addition an even larger portrait of Albert Sidney Johnston in his Confederate uniform was very impressive in the same room. Sam Houston is across the hall in the Senate Chamber.
