Unfortunately what you have there is not an original daguerreotype.. its a common paper print copy (a daguerreotype image is reversed on a glass plate). The original image was a photograph of Lee in 1850, which he was actually wearing civilian attire. Near the start of the civil war a lithograph copy of that image was made in mass, but an artist rendering altered it to have him wearing a military style uniform instead. It was also a head to waist image. What you have is a cropped down portrait style headshot copy of that image. The print copy you have may date to the 1890's, but they were mass produced by the tens of thousands on paper card stock for admiring fans of the General...
