I do not believe there is a simple answer, but most Americans under the age of 35 are very ignorant about American history. They were not taught properly in public schools and if they had a sincere interest, they would have learned on their own. I did not let that happen to my daughter and I doubt anyone reading this post allowed their children to grow up ignorant or disengaged. The Baby Boomer generation failed to "teach their children well" and let us all down. My two cents.
